Rustidian: Obsidian but fast.

A Rust-based Obsidian: native Markdown notes, local vaults, links and graphs. Early Linux alpha; contributors welcome.

A familiar Markdown notebook built in Rust: local vaults, live/source/reading modes, note links, backlinks, search and global/local graphs. Your notes stay ordinary Markdown files.

What works today

Tasks, tables, colored highlights, callouts and native Mermaid; daily notes, templates, bookmarks, workspaces and recovery snapshots. Open an existing file or folder through the File menu.

Speed, with evidence

A paired 100-note warm-start test measured the verified baseline at a median 0.61 s, versus 3.77 s for Obsidian 1.14.4 on the same host. This bounded software-display benchmark predates the later graph update; it is not a universal speed claim. Method, versions and original evidence.

Help build the rest

This is an early Linux alpha. Full Obsidian feature and visual parity remain unfinished; existing Obsidian JavaScript plugins are unsupported. See the roadmap. Rust/egui, Markdown, accessibility, platform and testing contributions are welcome.
